PEER-REVIEW PROCESS
All research articles submitted to Česká kriminologie (Czech Criminology) undergo peer review. Biographical profiles, book reviews, reports and similar contributions are not peer reviewed. The journal operates a double-blind peer-review process: each manuscript is assessed by at least two experts, and the identities of authors and reviewers are not disclosed to each other.
By submitting a manuscript for publication, authors grant the journal permission to use the work, in particular in its print issues, on the journal’s website and through the databases in which the journal is indexed (CEJSH, CEEOL). This permission does not affect the authors’ copyright.
Authors may make their work available online (e.g., on a personal website, ResearchGate or Google Scholar), provided that they explicitly state that the text has been published in Česká kriminologie.
The Managing Editor assesses the formal and substantive aspects of each manuscript without regard to the author’s race, sex, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality or political affiliation. The Managing Editor may decline to send a manuscript for peer review if it does not meet the standards of an academic text or if its topic falls outside the scope of the journal. Such decisions are made in consultation with the Editorial Board. If a manuscript does not meet the formal requirements, the author may be asked to revise it before the review process begins.
If a manuscript is sent for review, the reviewers prepare written reports recommending that it be accepted for publication, accepted subject to minor revisions, revised and resubmitted, or rejected. Reviewers explain the reasons for their recommendation and may suggest specific changes to the text. On the basis of the reviews, the Managing Editor accepts the manuscript, asks the author to revise it, or rejects it. If revisions are requested, the Managing Editor decides whether the revised manuscript adequately addresses the reviewers’ comments or whether it should be sent for further review.
The final decision on acceptance for publication is made by the Managing Editor in cooperation with the Editorial Board.
